For one in every four couples, we can not find a cause of infertility. This is called 'unexplained infertility'. It may be difficult for the couple to accept, because they want an explanation.
For unexplained infertility, there is undoubtedly a cause - but with the current knowledge and research we are not able to find the explanation.
This may be due to problems with the lining of the uterus, which makes it difficult for the fertilized ovum to implant. It may be due to the fallopian tubes that may have an impaired function to carry the eggs from the ovary to the uterus, although there is normal passage of contrast fluid by HSG or HSU. It can also be caused by a defect in the sperm cells, which, although they look normal, cannot fertilize the eggs correctly. There are several options and a lot of research in this area. However, we know that fertility treatment often works.
We begin with insemination (IUI-H) and a mild hormone stimulation. Many become pregnant with this treatment. See our results for insemination.
If insemination treatment has not resulted in the desired pregnancy after 3 attempts, IVF has good results. See our results for IVF.
